For the past month, I've been working at a elementary school near my apartment, P.S. 54 (its weird here, they don't use the name of the school people, refer to the Public School number instead). Its a 6-story building and its has this huge-monoid jelly fish and octopus on its outside wall. Its really cool, I think the local artist are painting murals to spruce up the local schools.

I work in an inclusion classroom, where the majority of students are children with disabilities. Omigosh, they have widen my eyes and have changed my outlook. Interestingly enough none of the students have autism, most of them have emotional and psychological problems. For those of you, who have visited the area I live in. You know, its not exactly a pinic in the park. I've been told by others, that my area use to be one of the most dangerous places to live in Brooklyn and is where the projects are located. But, no worries its changing. The two teachers are fabulous and hard working. When I first started working, they were reading to them this book called "Junebug." It's about a 9-year old boy living in the projects
I do love the girls and boys I work with. It's a struggle at times and many have tough exteriors. Sure, they might cuss out teachers or fight just because someone was looking at them weird. But, they haven't lost their innocence.
The school is a wonderful 5 story building, but it doesn't have air condition. I felt horrible for kids and I had to stay in the classroom when it was around 100 degrees outside.
